Army Searches for Missing Worker in Manipur

The Army is conducting a massive search for Kamal Babu, 54, who went missing on November 25 in Leimakhong, Manipur.

The Army has started a large search process after a man named Mr. Kamal Babu, 54, went missing on the evening of November 25, 2024. Mr. Babu, who belongs to the Meitei community, is from Cachar district in Assam. He had been living in Khurkul and working as a works supervisor for a contractor with the Military Engineering Services (MES) at Leimakhong Military Station.
His family reported that he did not return home that evening. The Army instantly took action, using all its resources. They are checking CCTV footage, asking informaion about him from  his co-workers, and using tracker dogs to find him. However, neither Mr. Babu nor his two-wheeler has been found yet.
The search has been expanded to cover the military station and nearby villages. Drones and other aerial tools are also being used.
Army officers are working with local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to get help in finding Mr. Babu. They have assured his family that every effort are making for his safe return.
The Manipur Police have also started their investigation. The Army has asked Meitei CSOs to remove road blockades so that the Army and Police can move freely during the search.
The search operation is ongoing, and hopes remain for Mr. Babu’s safe return. (PR)
