The fifth edition of the India-Vietnam bilateral military exercise, VINBAX-2024, has achieved a major landmark with the successful completion of its validation phase. The combined exercise, ongoing at Ambala, Haryana, from 4 to 23 November, emphasizes the growing collaboration between the armed forces of both countries.

This year's exercise focuses on improving joint capacities for deploying Combat Engineering Companies and Medical Teams in peacekeeping missions under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.

During the validation phase, held on 19 and 20 November, both contingents displayed their preparedness through the construction of force protection assets and other vital activities aligned with UN mandates. The troops also carried out rehabilitation and restoration tasks, displaying their capability to operate seamlessly and deploy medical teams effectively for humanitarian assistance operations.

For the first time in the VINBAX series, extensive use of air assets was incorporated. The Indian Air Force and Indian Army Aviation supplied reconnaissance support, helped in aerial insertion of personnel and materials, and operated the underslung carriage of engineering equipment. This acquisition echoes the growing intricacy and interoperability between the forces of India and Vietnam.

VINBAX-2024 denotes an important stride in strengthening India-Vietnam defense relations and boosting mutual confidence. By sharing best practices and enhancing operational coordination, the exercise highlights the two nation's dedication to global peace and stability while supporting their readiness to handle tough challenges in peacekeeping operations.

This collaborative initiative stresses the growing cooperation between India and Vietnam as they continue to work together towards shared objectives in regional security and international collaboration. (PR)
