The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Upendra Dwivedi, visited the Headquarters of Western Command at Chandimandir today to assess the Command's operational readiness. In his briefing with Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, the Army Commander of Western Command, General Dwivedi was updated on essential operational, training, logistical, and administrative factors vital to the Command's mission effectiveness.
During the briefing, Lieutenant General Katiyar highlighted the ongoing force modernization initiatives and strategic reforms aimed at bolstering combat readiness in the operational theatre. He further elaborated on the improvements in administrative and logistical support that are being implemented to enhance the Command’s ability to achieve its objectives.
General Dwivedi expressed his appreciation for Western Command’s efforts and emphasized the significance of incorporating advanced technologies to enable swift and efficient operational responses. He encouraged senior military leaders to remain vigilant about global geopolitical shifts and stressed the importance of continuous enhancement of the Army’s capability to address emerging threats.
As part of his visit, General Dwivedi also toured forward operational areas in the Kathua-Pathankot sector. He received an on-ground briefing from the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Yol-based Rising Star Corps, who outlined the current security situation and the readiness of troops in the region. The COAS commended the Rising Star Corps personnel for their professionalism and recent achievements in counter-terrorism operations, acknowledging their crucial role in safeguarding the region.
General Dwivedi's visit underscored the Indian Army's dedication to maintaining peak operational preparedness, modernising forces, and fostering a strategic defence environment. (PR)
