The effigy was found hanging near a dargah named Bashiban . This incident happened on Friday (June 10, 2022). Police said that the work of hanging the effigy was done in the dark of night. As soon as the incident came to the notice of the police, it was immediately removed. Since it is a communally sensitive area, the police have increased the deployment of force to maintain peace and order in the area.

Local corporator Shankar Patil informed the police about the incident. Local Hindus and Hindu organizations have demanded strict action in this matter. Shankar Patil, an independent member of the local municipal corporation, said that this is not Afghanistan, so the judiciary will decide whether Nupur Sharma is guilty or not. He said that the miscreants have done this work to create unrest in the society. He demanded strict action against the accused.
