In a press conference held at the Assam Media Centre, New Delhi on November 18, 2024, the newly-formed Tripura People’s Socialist Party (TPSP) announced its arrival with strong criticism of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its governance in Tripura. The TPSP leaders mentioned multiple grievances, stressing what they called the BJP's failures in governance, internal democracy, and devotion to the people of the state.

1. Foreign Influence Allegations- TPSP asked whether the BJP in Tripura was being controlled by foreign elements, raising apprehensions about alleged Bangladeshi interference in local governance.

2. Ineffective Governance- The state government was labeled a "Zinda Lash" (living corpse) regime, blamed for being unresponsive and unaccountable to the public's needs.

3. Women's Empowerment Critique- TPSP asserted that BJP’s women-centric policies, such as Naari Shakti Sanman, were shallow and failed to make significant changes.

4. Negligence of Tribal Talent- Tribal communities, a cornerstone of Tripura's socio-political fabric, were reportedly sidelined, damaging their contributions to national development.

5. Principles in Question- Referring to the BJP as the "biggest party with the smallest principles," TPSP charged it with prioritizing political and commercial profits over patriotism.

6. Expulsion Controversy- The party condemned the method of removal of some of its members, mentioning a lack of clarity, official communication, or documentation.

7. Drug and Health Issues- With Tripura’s increased HIV/AIDS rates and a growing drug crisis, TPSP pointed fingers at the government’s incapability to manage the crisis effectively, despite the state being ruled by a Chief Minister with a medical background.

8. Alleged Corruption and Nepotism- TPSP blamed the BJP of encouraging corrupt leaders while sidelining honest and selfless workers. They further, alleged inefficiencies in administrative decisions, including budget quotas, workers' rights, and schemes implementation.

9. Honorarium Dispute- A TPSP leader underscored personal grievance, asserting to have served 20 months in a government position without salary, while others reportedly enriched themselves via the system.

10. Call for Inclusive Development- The party underlined its dedication to a growth standard embedded in clarity, tribal empowerment, and cultural freedom, under the slogan "Sab Ka Saath, TPSP Bikash."

The launch of TPSP signals a growing dissatisfaction within the BJP’s ranks and questions its power in Tripura. With assurances of handling corruption, supporting tribal representation, and empowering women beyond tokenism, TPSP aspires to etch out its space in the state’s political terrain.

The press conference ended with TPSP leaders calling for a more prominent responsible and inclusive vision for Tripura’s destiny. (PR)
