In an important
operation against drug trafficking, Assam Rifles personnel confiscated a
shipment of WY (World is Yours) drugs worth an estimated ₹60 lakhs in Manipur's
Tengnoupal District. The find was made during a normal search operation on 15
November 2024 along a jungle trail near Zoumnuom.
The operation led to
the retrieval of a hidden packet having 20,000 pills of WY drugs, weighing
about 2 kilograms. This haul stresses the vigilant and aggressive steps of
Assam Rifles in curbing the flow of drugs in the territory.
The seized narcotics
have been handed over to the Customs Department for further examination and
legal proceedings. Authorities will investigate the sources of the contraband
and the web behind its trafficking to get those responsible to justice.
Known for their
devotion to preserving law and order, the Assam Rifles have always played a key
role in battling cross-border smuggling, including drug trafficking. Their
actions are instrumental in securing the safety and security of the northeastern
region, which is often targeted as a transit passage for illicit pills.
This successful
operation not only echoes the Assam Rifles’ devotion to combating the drug
threat but also acts as a warning to traffickers trying to use the region for
their unlawful activities. (PR)
