Reaffirmation of the 18th December 2007 Tuensang Summit Resolution
The central focus of the meeting was the reaffirmation of the Tuensang Summit Resolution of 18th December 2007. The resolution, which has guided the peace process in the region, emphasizes that there should be no bloodshed, violence, threats, or intimidation within the Eastern Jurisdiction.
As per the resolution passed during the ENPO’s 12th November 2024 Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting, the house unanimously reasserted its commitment to the Tuensang Summit Resolution, emphasizing that the ENPO will not extend public cooperation to any group or organization that fails to comply with the resolution. The reaffirmation also extends its appeal to all Naga Political Groups (NPGs) to strictly adhere to and comply with the historic peace agreement.
Key Decisions from the Meeting:
1. Upholding Ceasefire Ground Rules:
The meeting resolved to appeal to all NPGs to honor the ceasefire ground rules within the Eastern Jurisdiction and to continue pursuing the Naga cause through peaceful negotiations. The ENPO emphasized that peace talks and dialogue with the Government of India are essential for resolving the long-standing Naga issue.
2. ENPO as Peace Mediator:
The ENPO resolved that, in the event of a request from any NPG for peace negotiations with the Government of India, the ENPO will act as a mediator. This aligns with the organization’s continued commitment to facilitating a peaceful resolution and bringing all NPGs to the negotiating table for an **early Naga Political Solution.
3. Call for Unity Among NPGs:
The house reiterated its call for unity under the banner of one unified umbrella, emphasizing the need for a solution that is honorable, inclusive, and acceptable to all. 5. Disciplining of NPG Cadres:
A significant resolution was made concerning the growing presence of anti-social elements within NPGs.
