President of India Witnesses Indian Navy Operations on INS Vikrant During Maiden Visit at Sea

During her maiden visit at sea, she observed demonstrations including fighter take-offs, missile drills, and submarine operations, followed by a fleet address broadcast to all naval units.

The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, today observed a range of operational demonstrations by the Indian Navy onboard the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, marking her first official visit to Indian Navy ships at sea.

Arriving at INS Hansa, the Naval Air Station in Goa, the Hon’ble President was welcomed by Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, and Vice Admiral Sanjay J Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command. In her honor, a 150-member ceremonial Guard of Honour was paraded upon her arrival.

Embarking on the INS Vikrant in the company of 15 frontline Indian Navy warships and submarines off the coast of Goa, President Murmu was briefed on the Navy’s roles, operations, and strategic objectives. This exclusive session included an array of naval exercises and demonstrations that highlighted the operational capabilities of the Indian Navy. The demonstrations included deck-based fighter aircraft take-offs and landings, missile firing drills, submarine operations, and a flypast by over 30 aircraft, culminating in the traditional “steam-past” formation of warships.

Following the demonstrations, President Murmu interacted with the crew during lunch and delivered an address to the fleet. Her address was broadcast to all naval units at sea, affirming her support and commendation for the Navy’s dedication to safeguarding India’s maritime interests.

This historic visit emphasize President Murmu’s commitment to the nation’s defense forces and provided her with a firsthand view of the Indian Navy’s prowess and operational readiness. (pr)
