In observance of World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2024, the Indian Army spearheaded a series of mental health awareness events across the northeastern states of India. The initiative aimed to highlight the importance of mental well-being for both military personnel and civilians.
One of the key events took place at Government Higher Secondary School in Bordumsa town, located in Changlang District of Arunachal Pradesh. A mental health workshop and panel discussion were held, where over 60 students and 10 teachers participated. The session addressed common mental health challenges and explored strategies to build resilience. The discussion also aimed to create a supportive and inclusive environment for young people facing psychological pressures.
Simultaneously, at Leimakhong Military Station in Manipur, soldiers and their families attended lectures that stressed the importance of maintaining mental health. Experts spoke about the relationship between a healthy mind and overall well-being, encouraging attendees to seek help when needed and prioritize mental health as part of a balanced lifestyle.
These efforts reflect the Indian Army’s ongoing commitment to mental health advocacy. By spreading awareness among both troops and the general public, the Army aims to foster a culture of openness and provide critical support for mental wellness across the region.(pr)
