Dimapur, Nagaland: The 113 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) RAJPUT commenced its Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Territorial Army Day in Dimapur, marking a significant milestone in its history. The event kicked off on October 4, 2024, with community-focused programs and awareness activities.
As part of the celebrations, awareness lectures on employment opportunities in the Territorial Army were held at Pranab Vidyapith and Women's College in Dimapur. These sessions, which attracted over 750 students, aimed to educate the youth about the career prospects and responsibilities associated with joining the Territorial Army.
Additionally, a Blood Donation Camp was organized at the District Hospital, Dimapur, where 50 soldiers from the battalion voluntarily donated blood. This initiative emphasized the battalion's commitment to the welfare of the local community, underlining its role beyond defense.
The Territorial Army was formally established in 1949 following the implementation of the Territorial Army Act by the Constituent Assembly post-independence. The first Territorial Army camp was inaugurated by India's first Governor-General, Shri C. Rajagopalachari, on October 9, 1949. Since then, the day has been celebrated annually as Territorial Army Day.
This year's Platinum Jubilee celebrations underscore the Territorial Army's long-standing contribution to national defense and community service, commemorating 75 years of dedicated service to the nation. (PR)
