The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is set to expand its presence in the Union Territories of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh with the inauguration of four new units, following the Government of India's decision to increase NCC vacancies. The formal inauguration ceremony, scheduled for October 25 in Udhampur, will see the ceremonial handing over of the NCC Scroll.
These new units, to be raised in Udhampur, Kupwara, and Kargil, will enable the induction of an additional 13,950 cadets, further empowering the youth across the region. The move is part of a broader government initiative to engage and prepare the youth for future opportunities.
The new battalions come as a timely boost, with preparations for the event in full swing. Officers, staff, and cadets from the NCC Directorate in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh are working tirelessly to ensure the inauguration is a grand success.
In a first for Jammu and Kashmir, an Air Squadron NCC unit will also be established, allowing cadets to explore the skies and engage in aviation-related activities. The arrival of the first aircraft during the inauguration will be a highlight of the event, marking a significant milestone in the region's NCC history.
This expansion reflects the government's ongoing efforts to empower the youth and provide them with platforms for growth, discipline, and national service through the NCC programme. (PR)
