The International Tourism Mart (ITM) is a mega event organized by the Government of India, Ministry of Tourism and culture and Government of Mizoram in collaboration with CII -Young Indians Mizoram Chapter has organised the 10th edition of ITM at Aizawl, Mizoram is underway to showcase the tourism potentials of the North East States.
ITM is organized annually since 2013 across the North Eastern States on a rotation basis and this is the first time for the Mizoram government to host this event. This year’s edition has been formally inaugurated by Shri Dr.Lalthanliana, Minister of Industries & Commerce Government of Mizoram at AR ground on the 16th of November and it will go till the 19th of November, 2022 at Aizawl. This event is designed to include the locals in the ITM in a festive manner.
Dr Saitluanga, Director Tourism Department, Government of Mizoram delivered a Welcome Address.
The Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, Shri Robert Romawia Royte graced the event as The Guest of Honour. He highlighted that ITM is the beginning of Tourism in Mizoram.
He also stated that it is a big opportunity to show the world the diverse and unique potential of Mizoram in the Tourism Sector. “The event will put us on the World Tourism Map. The resultant expectation on the generation of revenue and employment in the Tourism Industry in the State is high”, he said.
The Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industries Dr R.Lalthangliana welcomes the ITM as the Chief Guest, he mentioned that it is the first time that Mizoram is hosting this event and thanked the Hon’ble Tourism Minister Government of India for taking a keen and enthusiastic interest in making the event special and unique. He thanked the Department of Tourism for gathering at AR Ground, Aizawl where a mega Exhibition and Food Court have been arranged that can be enjoyed by everyone.
In the State Exhibition, several entrepreneurs participated in diverse crafts. A total number of 76 stalls have been erected and there are handloom, handicraft products, agricultural and horticultural products, clothing, packaged item, and GI Tag items are also on show till the 19th of November 2022. There are 26 footstalls in the Food Court and everyone can have various cuisines-Mizo, Indian style, Burmese, Nepali and Continental menus that are all FSSAI certified.
The success of the event is because of the convergence of the Tourism Department, Department of Commerce & Industries, Government of Mizoram, CII -Young Indians Mizoram Chapter, Food & Drug Administration- Health & Family Welfare Department – Government of Mizoram.
