Case file of Voluntary Arunachal Sena Vs State of Arunachal Pradesh case SLP (C) 34696/2010. The matter is pending in the Supreme Court in the corruption case against former government CM Lt Dorjee Khandu for laundering more than 68 crores of state’s (SGRY) Samporna Grameen Rozgar Yojana has been pending for the last 12 years.
Subsequently, last year, Mr Nabam Tagum, President, Arunachal Justice Forum filed a Writ Petition (Criminal) No. 165/2021 against the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu in the Supreme Court of India.
He filed several corruption cases against the present CM, including undeclared assets, several illegal appointments in the state, misappropriation of funds, allotment of minerals and mining licences to private companies without bidding, etc.
It should be noted that this is not the first time that the Khandu, the most powerful political family in Arunachal Pradesh, has been accused of corruption. A Public Interest Litigation (No. 52/2007) in the Gauhati High Court mainly contained various allegations against the then Chief Minister Late Dorji Khandu (Pema Khandu's father).
After a thorough hearing of both the parties, the High Court in its judgment dated May 12, 2010, acquitted the late Dorjee Khandu of all the charges levelled against him. The Gauhati HC's decision was challenged in the Supreme Court of India as a Special Leave Petition (SLP) by two persons: Rahul Agarwal and Voluntary Arunachal Sena.
