Congress delegation on Thursday met Congress President Sonia Gandhi over the incident of killing of 14 civilians and a soldier in Nagaland's Mon district near the Indo-Myanmar border to submit the complete information.
This report was prepared by General Secretary Bhanwar Jitendra Singh, General Secretary in charge of Nagaland Ajoy Kumar, MP Gaurav Gogoi, and Anto Antony in a four-member delegation that visited Nagaland. These leaders had also met the families of the victims after reaching Nagaland.
On this issue, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi accused the central government of saying that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has lied in Parliament that warning signals were given before firing in Mon district. It is worth noting that the Nagaland government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of 14 people killed in the alleged firing by security forces in the Mon district. Along with this, the government has also announced to constitute a high-level Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by an Inspector General of Police (IGP) level officer to probe the incident.
