The Prime Minister of India, and Bhartiya Janta Party Leader, Narendra Modi has completed 20 years as a head of government on October 7, 2021. Back in October 7, 2001 he became the Gujrat Chief Minister before taking oath as a prime minister in 2014. A special drive “Sewa Aur Samarpan Abhiyan” was launched in September on Modi’s 71st birthday to mark his 20 years in office.
Home Minister Amit Shah, who has been a close aide of Modi for over three decades, said the journey of good governance and development that started on this day in 2001 when he took oath for the first time as chief minister has continued uninterrupted. The prime minister has worked day and night for the people and country's progress, he said.
Between 2001 and 2014 Modi served as a Gujarat CM.
BJP President J P Nadda said Modi pulled the country out of an atmosphere of disappointment and put it on the path to progress and becoming "vishwa guru" (world leader). The prime minister has worked like a "karma yogi" and infused people with self-confidence about making a new India, he further added.
May his popularity keep rising, he added.
The BJP president said, "He launched many schemes like Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Awaas Yojana, Kisan Saaman Nidhi Yojana, and many more to uplift the poor. Through many schemes, the role of middlemen was eliminated, putting an end to corruption."
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also congratulated the prime minister, saying these 20 years have not only been dedicates to people's welfare but have also been untainted.
The PM has heralded a new era of development in the country. "Today marks 20 years of PM Narendra Modi ji's governance in the service of the people. He began on October 07, 2001, as the CM of Gujarat and since then, has heralded a new era of development of the nation, transforming the people's lives," said Health Miniter Mansukh Mandaviya.
BJP IT cell national in-charge Amit Malviya said PM Modi’s political journey has touched millions of lives. “It is remarkable that PM Modi has completed 20 uninterrupted years in public office. The journey that started as CM of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, continues as Prime Minister. In this journey he has touched millions of lives and transformed India’s destiny. Congratulations,” he tweeted.
It is noted that for four consecutive terms Modi ji had served as the CM of Gujarat and he is currently in the second tenure of his Prime Ministership.
