Ministry Launches Dekho Apna Desh to Boost Domestic Tourism

The Ministry is promoting the poll through digital platforms like SMS and WhatsApp.

The Ministry of Tourism launched the Dekho Apna Desh initiative in January 2020 to encourage people to explore different parts of India. The program promotes India’s tourist spots through activities like webinars, quizzes, social media campaigns, and events. It also focuses on sharing information about India’s tourism products.
As part of this initiative, the Ministry introduced the Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice poll to find out which tourist attractions are most popular. The poll covers five categories: Spiritual, Nature & Wildlife, Adventure, Cultural & Heritage, and Others. The Ministry has been promoting this poll on various platforms, including social media, SMS, and WhatsApp, to reach as many people as possible.
To support tourism, the government is working with private companies, public sector organizations, and state governments to offer travel packages for both Indian and foreign tourists.
This information was shared by Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today. (PR)
