The Indian Army commemorated the 53rd anniversary of Vijay Diwas on December 16, 2024, with a series of patriotic events in Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts of Manipur. Vijay Diwas marks India’s historic victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, a tribute to the nation’s armed forces and their valor.

In Bishnupur district, a flag-hoisting ceremony was organized at Hautak, where locals and school students participated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. A drawing competition themed on Vijay Diwas was also held at Beersheba Foundation School in Terakhong. Students showcased their creativity while honoring the sacrifices of the armed forces. The event concluded with the rendition of the national anthem, paying homage to the gallant heroes of 1971.

Similarly, in Churachandpur district, a flag-hoisting event was held at Siden, attended by community members and students. Additionally, a tree plantation drive was organized at Maulphai Tampak in collaboration with local villagers. A total of 50 saplings were planted, symbolizing growth and sustainability while honoring the spirit of Vijay Diwas.

The celebrations reflected the enduring bond between the armed forces and the local communities, fostering a sense of unity and patriotism among participants.(pr)
