In a series of successful operations, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police, along with other security forces, have recovered 14 weapons, ammunition, and warlike stores (WLS) from different areas of Manipur, including Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Thoubal districts.
The operations carried out between December 2 and December 6, were based on specific information about weapons being hidden in these areas.
On December 2, in Kangpokpi district, a joint operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police led to the recovery of a sniper rifle, a Lathode gun, two 9mm pistols, a SBBL gun, ammunition, and other warlike items.
Later that day, in the Churachandpur district, another joint operation resulted in the recovery of a 7.62mm SLR rifle, a 12-bore single-barrel gun, a 9mm pistol, ammunition, and more warlike stores.
On December 4 and 6, two more operations were carried out in Thoubal district. In Fungei Ching area, the forces found an SLR, a Carbine Machine Gun, a Double Barrel Rifle, two pistols, grenades, ammunition, and other items. The second operation in Pechi area also led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and warlike stores.
All recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation.
These successful operations highlight the strong teamwork between the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and local police, showing their dedication to keeping the region safe and secure. The recovery of these weapons is an important step in preventing illegal arms from causing harm in the area. (PR)
