Armed Forces Flag Day Observed at Raj Bhawan, Guwahati

The Armed Forces Flag Day 2024 was observed with great solemnity at Raj Bhavan in Guwahati today on 7th December 2024, to honor the devotion and sacrifices of the nation’s Armed Forces personnel. The occasion brought together Veer Naris, Disabled Soldiers, Veterans, and serving personnel to pay tribute to those who protect India’s frontiers and defend its territorial integrity.
Addressing the gathering, the Hon'ble Governor voiced profound admiration for the bravery and selflessness of the Armed Forces. He reaffirmed the government's firm dedication to the welfare and rehabilitation of veterans and their families. “As citizens of a grateful nation, it is our duty to ensure the comprehensive care of the families and dependents of the brave hearts who have laid down their lives in service to our country,” he stressed.
To mark the occasion, the Governor released a Wall and Table Calendar, which emphasizes the efforts of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam. The calendars describe the department's efforts to ensure the welfare, well-being, and rehabilitation of the ex-servicemen community across the state.
The ceremony expressed the nation’s gratefulness toward its Armed Forces and reiterated the significance of supporting those who have dedicated their lives to the country’s service. (PR)
