Wing of Glory: IAF and Uttarakhand War Memorial Car Rally Arrives at Hasimara

Participants, along with Air Force personnel and students, took part in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative. The rally will conclude at Tawang ALG on 29th October, inspiring youth through various interactive sessions and tributes to fallen heroes along the way.

The Mega Indian Air Force (IAF) and Uttarakhand War Memorial (UWM) car rally made a grand arrival at Hasimara Air Force Station today, marking a key milestone in its journey across the country. In a heartfelt ceremony, rally participants, along with station personnel and students from Air Force School Bagdogra, took part in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ tree-planting initiative, promoting environmental consciousness.

The event was flagged off by Air Officer Commanding, Air Commodore Manish V Patel, VM, as part of the ongoing commemorations for the silver jubilee of the Kargil victory. On 21st October, the rally team engaged with students from various schools, instilling in them the values of resilience, national pride, and a commitment to service. The rally was formally welcomed at Hasimara by Air Commodore Ashish Sharma, VM, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Hasimara, in a ceremony attended by station personnel.

The car rally, known as the “Vayu Veer Vijeta” rally, commenced on 8th October from Thoise Air Base and is set to conclude on 29th October at Tawang ALG in Arunachal Pradesh. The team is currently en route to Guwahati, Tezpur, and Dirang, with a scheduled visit to Guwahati University on 24th October for an interactive session aimed at inspiring students and motivating them to consider careers in the Armed Forces.

During their stay at Hasimara, the rally participants paid their respects to the nation’s fallen heroes by visiting the War Memorial at the station. As the rally continues its journey toward Tawang, it remains focused on engaging with the youth, fostering a spirit of patriotism, and highlighting the opportunities available in the Indian Armed Forces.

The “Vayu Veer Vijeta” rally’s mission is to inspire the next generation and ensure that the legacy of the Armed Forces remains alive and influential across India.(pr)
