The Indian Air Force (IAF) launched its iconic "Vayu Veer Vijeta Car Rally" today, in collaboration with the Uttarakhand War Memorial (UWM). The event was inaugurated with great enthusiasm by Group Captain AS Punia, Station Commander of Air Force Station Chandigarh, during a flag-off ceremony held in the morning.
Before embarking on their journey, rally participants honored the sacrifices of fallen war heroes with a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial located at Air Force Station Chandigarh.
The rally is currently en route to Dehradun, where it will be welcomed by the Uttarakhand Science and Technology Council in Jhajhra. A reception is planned, along with an interactive session featuring discussions on the role of science and technology in national defense, led by the Council's Director General, Prof. (Dr.) Durgesh Pant.
On October 15, the rally team will pay tribute at the statue of Unknown Soldiers at Shaurya Sthal, part of the Uttarakhand War Memorial.
This year’s "Vayu Veer Vijeta" rally marks the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas and was initially flagged off from Thoise, Leh, to Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, on October 8, coinciding with the 92nd anniversary of the IAF. The rally includes participants from the IAF, Army, Air Veterans, and civilians from UWM, aiming to inspire youth to consider joining the Indian armed forces while promoting the remarkable achievements of the Air Force among the general public.
After Dehradun, the rally will traverse through Agra, Lucknow, Darbhanga, Bagdogra, Hashimara, and Guwahati, culminating in Tawang on October 27. Throughout the journey, the rally will visit several war memorials and engage with students at colleges and universities during their stops. A special highlight will be the traditional welcome the rally participants will receive from students from the Northeast, particularly those from Arunachal Pradesh, upon their arrival. (PR)
