In a continued effort to promote community welfare and foster youth development, the Indian Army has upgraded the sports infrastructure at the Konspathar Sports Club in the Tinsukia district of Assam. The sports club, initially constructed last year to encourage the spirit of sportsmanship, has now received a significant boost with the addition of various sports equipment and support facilities.

The upgraded facilities include essential sports gear such as footballs, goalpost nets, volleyballs, badminton rackets, shuttlecocks, cricket bats, balls, helmets, batting gloves, chest guards, basketballs, rings, carrom boards, and chessboards. Additionally, support equipment like steel almirahs, storage racks, tables, and stools were provided to enhance the functionality of the sports club.

The handover ceremony, held on 11 October 2024, was a modest yet meaningful event attended by local students, village leaders, school principals, and sports enthusiasts. The upgrade is seen as a major step towards providing local youth with the necessary tools to pursue their passion for sports while promoting the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle.

This initiative underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to community development, with a particular focus on encouraging sports and physical activity among the youth in rural areas. It is expected that the improved infrastructure will help nurture local talent and strengthen the culture of sportsmanship in the region.

The event was coordinated by the Public Relations Officer and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence, covering the states of Manipur, Nagaland, and Southern Arunachal Pradesh.(pr)
