Lieutenant General Sadhna Saxena Nair, Vishisht Seva Medal, Director General Medical Services (DGMS), Army, inaugurated a newly established Early Intervention Centre (EIC) at Military Hospital (MH) Dehradun during her visit today. This new facility is designed to provide specialized medical care for children with developmental delays and special needs, enhancing the hospital’s capacity to deliver targeted healthcare to these children and their families.
Lieutenant General Nair's visit included a comprehensive review of the hospital’s overall functioning and the quality of services provided. The DGMS inspected key departments such as Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology/Obstetrics, Paediatrics, and Emergency and Critical Care services. She commended the hospital staff for their professionalism and dedication, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards of care for both serving personnel and veterans.
The inauguration of the Early Intervention Centre is seen as a crucial step in expanding MH Dehradun's specialized healthcare offerings. The centre will focus on early diagnosis and treatment, significantly benefiting children requiring timely medical attention to address developmental concerns.
Lieutenant General Nair, who was commissioned into the Army Medical Corps in 1985, is the first woman to hold the esteemed position of DGMS (Army). She has had an illustrious career spanning 38 years and has been the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Vishisht Seva Medal, which she received in 2013 from the President of India.
Her visit to MH Dehradun also boosted the morale of the hospital’s staff, with her leadership reinforcing the Army Medical Corps' commitment to providing top-tier healthcare to military personnel and their families.
