In a significant move towards environmental conservation, the Indian Army, in collaboration with Parivesh Sangrakshan Samiti, an NGO dedicated to environmental protection, conducted a tree plantation drive at Hassak LP School in Tinsukia, Assam, on Thursday, 26 September 2024. The event was organized to commemorate World Environment Health Day and raise awareness about the need for environmental preservation.
The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from over 150 individuals, including 70 students from the local community. During the drive, a wide variety of native tree saplings were planted in and around the school premises. The goal of the initiative was to contribute to a greener and more sustainable environment for future generations.
The plantation drive emphasized the importance of trees in combating climate change, conserving biodiversity, and enhancing the ecological balance of the region. By taking this step, the Indian Army and the local community highlighted the critical role that individuals and organizations can play in protecting the environment.
In a show of solidarity, participants, alongside members of the Indian Army, pledged to care for and nurture the newly planted saplings. They also committed to continuing their support for environmental initiatives in the region, ensuring long-term benefits for both the community and the environment.
The event not only promoted environmental consciousness but also served as a testament to the strong collaboration between the Indian Army and local communities in preserving nature for future generations. (PR)
