The 11th Engineers Conclave, a collaborative effort between the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), commenced today in Hyderabad. The two-day annual event aims to explore advancements in indigenisation and discuss strategic priorities in the field of defence technology.
Held at the Defence Research & Development Laboratory (DRDL), the conclave brings together a diverse group of stakeholders, including engineers, scientists, academicians, and industry leaders. This year, the focus is on two key areas: "Additive Manufacturing for Defence Applications" and "Defence Manufacturing Technologies."
The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Former Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, who emphasized the importance of innovation and collaboration in defence technologies. The Guest of Honour, Dr. Samir V Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, highlighted the significance of indigenisation in strengthening the nation’s defence capabilities.
In addition to the inaugural addresses, notable figures in the defence sector also participated in the event. Shri G.A. Srinivasa Murthy, Director of DRDL, Shri U. Raja Babu, Director General of Missiles and Strategic Systems, and Prof. Indranil Manna, President of INAE, addressed the attendees, sharing insights on the current landscape and future directions for defence engineering.
