In a coordinated effort, the Indian Army, along with the Border Security Force (BSF) and Manipur Police, conducted a successful joint operation resulting in the recovery of a significant arms cache in Manipur. The operation took place in the Bungjang Village area, located between the fringe areas of Kangpokpi and Imphal East districts.
Acting on specific intelligence, the joint team moved swiftly to bust the cache, believed to be in use by miscreants. Among the recovered items were a sniper rifle, a heavy-calibre launcher, a pistol, a single-barrel gun, ammunition, and various war-like stores. The recovered arms and ammunition have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and disposal.
The successful operation highlights the ongoing commitment of security forces in the region to maintain peace and stability. Authorities remain vigilant, with the security forces reiterating their dedication to restoring normalcy in Manipur amid the state's recent turmoil.
A spokesperson from the Ministry of Defence, responsible for operations across Manipur, Nagaland, and southern Arunachal Pradesh, confirmed the development, stressing the importance of the collaboration between the Army, BSF, and local police forces in achieving these results.
Security operations will continue in the region as part of the effort to bring peace and prosperity back to Manipur.
