The 16th edition of the India-Mongolia Joint Military Exercise, Nomadic Elephant 2024, concluded today after an intense 14 days of collaborative training. The closing ceremony, held at the Joint Training Node in Umroi, was graced by Maj Gen Ganbyamba Sunrev, Chief of General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces, and Lt Gen Zubin A Minwalla of the Trishakti Corps.
Commencing on 3rd July 2024, the exercise saw active participation from both Indian and Mongolian contingents. The Indian side, comprising 45 personnel from the SIKKIM SCOUTS Battalion alongside other arms and services, joined forces with the 150 Quick Reaction Force Battalion of the Mongolian Army.
Exercise Nomadic Elephant, conducted alternately in India and Mongolia, serves as an annual platform to enhance bilateral defense cooperation. The previous edition was hosted by Mongolia in July 2023.
During the closing ceremony, discussions between military leaders from both nations emphasized future joint operations, underscoring strengthened ties and mutual respect fostered through the exercise. A display of cutting-edge weaponry and equipment by the Indian contingent showcased advancements under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, highlighting India's growing defense capabilities.
The event not only facilitated the exchange of best practices in joint operations but also promoted interoperability and camaraderie among troops. It concluded with a commitment to unity in addressing global challenges and laying the groundwork for future joint endeavors under United Nations mandates.
