On November 24, 2024, the National Cadet Corps (NCC), the world’s biggest uniformed youth organization, celebrated its 76th Raising Day with great enthusiasm. On this special event, Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh visited the National War Memorial at India Gate, New Delhi, to pay tribute to the fallen heroes on behalf of the entire NCC family.
Speaking at the event, Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh praised the efforts of NCC in developing its cadet strength by 3 lakh and said that it is expected to reach 20 lakh cadets in the near future. He highlighted the importance of NCC in supporting the government’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ campaign, saying, “NCC is working hard to shape today’s youth into responsible citizens, helping to reach the goal of ‘Yuva Shakti – Viksit Bharat.’”
The 76th Raising Day was marked by various activities across the country, including marches by cadets in different cities and cultural events. As part of the celebrations, nationwide blood donation camps were managed, with the goal of reaching 50,000 units of blood donated last year. The NCC also carried out several social events, such as tree planting, statue cleaning and awareness programs on cleanliness & anti-drug campaigns.
In addition to developing its numbers, the NCC has also updated its training and syllabus. The new changes aim to train cadets with skills and knowledge in line with government initiatives like Skill Manthan, Cyber Awareness (I4C), and training with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). These updates are created to build the confidence and personality of cadets, contributing to the vision of a developed and self-reliant India.(PR)
