The Authority Holding Sealed Particulars (AHSP) for the P-7 Parachute System has been formally assigned to the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) by the Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (ADRDE), Agra, a prime laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

The ceremony carried out at DRDO Bhawan in New Delhi, was overseen by Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO. The P-7 Parachute System, designed and developed by ADRDE, has been prosperously qualified and is now fit for operational use.

Manufactured by Gliders India Limited (Ordnance Parachute Factory), Kanpur, the system can air-drop payloads of up to 9.5 tons from IL-76 aircraft at altitudes of up to 4 kilometers. This advanced parachute system allows the Indian Army to swiftly deploy crucial hardware such as Light Field Guns and Jeeps in border and conflict zones.

The Army has requested 146 P-7 Heavy Drop Parachute Systems with GIL (OPF), Kanpur. Having successfully achieved the General Staff Evaluation, the P-7 Parachute System has been enlisted into service, marking a notable step in improving India's air-dropping abilities for military maneuvers. (PR)
