In a series of successful operations, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police have made substantial arms and ammunition recoveries across Manipur. Over the past week, they seized 22 weapons, including firearms and explosives, along with a significant amount of ammunition and military equipment.
On October 21, a joint team discovered a cache in the forested area between Laimaton and Aigejang in Kangpokpi District. This operation yielded a .303 Sniper Rifle, a 9mm Carbine Machine Gun, a 9mm Pistol, a Single Barrel Breech Loading Gun, grenades, and various ammunition types.
Continuing their efforts, on October 24, additional arms were recovered from a concealed pit near B Phainom Village in Thoubal District, including another 9mm Carbine, a "pompi" shotgun, a grenade, and more ammunition. In Imphal East District, trained dogs helped locate a cache that contained a 2-inch mortar, a .303 Rifle, a Double Barrel Rifle, two pistols, and grenades.
On October 25, operations in Churachandpur District led to the recovery of two .303 rifles, two .22 mm semi-automatic rifles, a large country-made mortar, and a 12 Bore Pistol. In Bishnupur District, a joint team found an SLR rifle, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing approximately 2.4 kg, grenades, and additional military supplies.
In a final operation, security forces in Imphal West recovered a Single Barrel Bore Rifle, two 9mm pistols, grenades, and ammunition from Shantipur Makha Leikai Shamushang.
All recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and disposal. These operations highlight the effective coordination among security forces and their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region.(PR)
