Veer Nari Samman Samaroh Honors the Sacrifices of Bravehearts

The event featured briefings by Army welfare organizations, a visit to the National War Memorial, and a felicitation ceremony at Manekshaw Centre, where President AWWA, Mrs. Sunita Dwivedi, honored the participants for their courage and sacrifice.

In a solemn and heartfelt tribute on the occasion of 'Shaurya Diwas', the Infantry Directorate hosted the 'Veer Nari Samman Samaroh' from October 21 to 23, 2024. The event honored the courage and sacrifice of 25 soldiers from 13 Infantry Regiments who laid down their lives in the line of duty over the past year.
Among the honored attendees were four Veer Matas (mothers of fallen soldiers) and 21 Veer Naris (wives of fallen soldiers). Notably, the wives of Col Manpreet Singh, KC, SM, Maj Ashish Dhonchak, SC, SM, and Sep Pradeep Singh, SC of 19 RR (SIKH LI), as well as the mother of Capt Shubham Gupta, SM of 9 PARA (SF) and Rfn Ravi Kumar, KC of 11 JAK LI, were present.
Upon arrival, the Veer Naris were briefed by officers from the Directorate of Indian Army Veterans (DIAV), Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO), and Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), along with the Officer In Charge of the Veer Nari Committee. This interaction provided them with a platform to voice their concerns and receive assurances for resolutions to any issues they face.
As part of the ceremony, the Veer Naris and Veer Matas visited the National War Memorial, where they paid floral tributes to the nation's fallen heroes.
The event culminated in a grand felicitation ceremony held at the prestigious Manekshaw Centre. Mrs. Sunita Dwivedi, President of the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), led the honors alongside other AWWA functionaries and wives of senior Infantry officers. Mrs. Dwivedi delivered a stirring address, offering words of encouragement and gratitude to the Veer Naris and Veer Matas, acknowledging their strength and sacrifice. The participants were felicitated in a moving tribute to their loved ones.
The 'Veer Nari Samman Samaroh' served as a poignant reminder of the selfless dedication of India's armed forces and their families, whose sacrifices continue to uphold the nation's honor.(PR)
