Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) of India, has embarked on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from October 21 to 24, 2024. This visit seeks to enhance the defence cooperation between the two nations, complementing the deepening Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that spans across multiple sectors.

The key objective of Admiral Tripathi’s visit is to consolidate maritime relations between India and the UAE and to explore new avenues of collaboration between the Indian Navy and the UAE Navy. The visit includes high-level discussions with Rear Admiral Pilot Saeed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Commander of the UAE Naval Forces, as well as meetings with other senior government officials in the UAE.

As part of his itinerary, Admiral Tripathi will visit the National Defence College of the UAE, where he is scheduled to interact with student officers, further strengthening the defence educational ties between the two nations.

In addition to these engagements, Admiral Tripathi will witness the third edition of the India-UAE Bilateral Naval Exercise, a significant cooperative naval event aimed at boosting operational synergy between the two navies.

The relationship between the Indian Navy and the UAE Navy has seen substantial growth over the years through a range of cooperative engagements. These include operational interactions such as port calls, bilateral naval exercises, reciprocal visits, navy-to-navy staff talks, and the Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC).

Admiral Tripathi's visit underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthening their maritime security cooperation, with a focus on regional stability and peace.(PR)
