Honoring Our Real Heroes: ESM Felicitation Ceremony at Jammu

The Indian Army's Tiger Division held a significant Veterans Outreach Program cum Ex-Servicemen Felicitation Ceremony on October 18, 2024, in Jammu. This heartfelt event aimed to honor and recognize the Gallantry Awardees and Disabled Soldiers for their selfless sacrifices in service of the nation.

The ceremony was graced by Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, AVSM, GOC-in-C Western Command, who underscored the importance of acknowledging the contributions of war veterans. More than 250 ex-servicemen gathered to commemorate the occasion, which was organized in collaboration with the War Wounded Foundation (WWF).

As part of the event, state government officials, including representatives from the Zila Sainik Board and nationalized banks, shared valuable information regarding various government schemes. The Indian Army was represented by multiple departments, including Record Offices, the Department of Indian Army Veterans, Veterans Sahayata Kendra, and the Army Welfare Placement Organization. These representatives interacted with veterans to address their queries and provide essential information.

Additionally, a team from the Defence Accounts Department was present to resolve pension-related issues, while medical personnel from the local Military Hospital attended to the medical needs of the ex-servicemen.

During his address, the Army Commander expressed deep gratitude towards the war veterans for their invaluable contributions to the nation. He also presented modified scooters and autos to enhance the mobility of disabled veterans.

The GOC-in-C took the opportunity to engage informally with the veterans, fostering camaraderie and strengthening bonds among the participants. The event served as an essential platform for ex-servicemen and war heroes to connect directly with government officials, facilitating discussions on various issues impacting their lives.

This initiative not only honored the sacrifices made by these brave individuals but also reinforced the commitment of the Indian Army and the government to support and uplift the veteran community. (PR)
